It must be done. It is one of the joys of authorhood. For doctors, it’s that moment they put the stethoscope in their ears. For teachers, the first time writing on the board. For dogwalkers, that first click of the leash into someone else’s dog’s collar.
For writers, it’s going to the bookstore to see your book on display.
My local indie had received books but not displayed them yet (upcoming post!), but my local Barnes and Noble had. I’m thankful to Kensington Books for working with B&N to have Betrayed on face-out display under New Teen Fiction. It’s hard for browsers to find books if they are shelved in regular fiction with only their spines showing. I love the cover art and am so glad it’s showing!
I signed the books, bought three books that were not my own, sent up energetic thoughts of gratefulness, and went home. Fist pump!
